What Does a Self Storage Website Cost in 2026? Agency vs WordPress vs Built-in
By The Unit Manager Pro Team · 15 October 2026 · 7 min read

A storage website has one job: let someone pick a unit, see the price and book it — ideally at 11pm on a Sunday without phoning you. Getting there costs very different amounts depending on the route you take.
The three routes
1. A web design agency
You get a bespoke design, but most brochure sites cannot show live availability, take a deposit or get a rental agreement signed. Those need extra development or a separate booking tool, plus ongoing hosting and maintenance. Get at least two written quotes and ask exactly what "online booking" includes.
2. WordPress or Wix plus plugins
Cheaper to start, but you become the developer: a theme, a booking plugin, a payments plugin, an e-signature service and someone to keep it all updated. Availability usually has to be updated by hand, so the site drifts out of step with your real units.
3. A booking website built into your management software
The website reads straight from your unit list, so prices and availability are always right. Booking, the signed agreement, ID checks and the first payment happen in one flow, and the tenant lands in your system automatically.

What to check before you pay anyone
- Can a visitor see real prices and which sizes are free right now?
- Can they sign the agreement and pay a deposit without speaking to you?
- Does the booking appear in your system, or do you retype it?
- Who updates the site when you change a price?
- Is it fast and readable on a phone? Most storage searches are on mobile.
