Move a slider and the others adjust so the mix always adds up to 100%. “Optimise for rent” weights the mix towards whichever unit type earns the most rent per square foot at your prices.
Estimate only. Allows 10% spacing between units for doors and safe access. Your layout, fire rules and planning conditions may change the final count. UnitManagerPro would cost about £185 a month at this occupancy — empty units are free.

Frequently asked questions
How many shipping containers fit on an acre?
An acre is 43,560 sq ft. After allowing 35–40% for driveways and turning space, about 26,000–28,000 sq ft is left for containers. That is roughly 160–175 x 20ft containers packed tightly, but most yards land nearer 120–150 once you allow for gaps between containers, fencing, gates and parking.
How much driveway space does a container yard need?
Plan for 35% of the plot with a one-way loop and around 40% with two-way lanes and turning circles. Lanes are usually 6 m (20 ft) wide one-way and 7–8 m (25 ft) where vehicles pass or turn.
How much can a container storage yard earn?
Multiply the number of units by your monthly rent and your expected occupancy. For example, 120 x 20ft containers at £140 a month and 85% let brings in about £14,280 a month before costs.
Do I need planning permission for container storage?
In most areas, yes. Using land for storage usually needs planning consent (in England this is often Use Class B8). Check with your local council before buying containers.
