Prepare the right agreement
Review the terms for the facility, customer type and jurisdiction with an appropriate adviser. Include the relevant rent, access arrangements, notice process and customer obligations. An electronic signature does not make unsuitable terms fair or enforceable.
Create and check the template
In UMP, prepare the lease agreement template before creating leases that need it. Preview the populated tenant, unit, rent and dates. Keep a versioned copy of the wording and inspect the final document after signing rather than assuming every placeholder was filled correctly.
Give the tenant a clear signing step
Make the agreement readable on a phone and allow the tenant to review it before taking the signing action. Confirm how the system records acceptance and how both parties obtain the final agreement. An uploaded ID file is not itself proof of verified identity.
Check the evidence you need
The Law Commission’s electronic execution project explains the England-and-Wales context. Requirements depend on the document and circumstances; do not treat a short checklist of email/IP fields as a universal legal test.
Preserve existing agreements
When moving systems, keep original signed records. The tenant CSV does not import signatures or signed documents. Review supported imports and migration planning and confirm whether retention, upload or a new agreement is appropriate before inviting existing customers.

Frequently asked questions
Can storage tenants e-sign their agreement?
Yes. Unit Manager Pro presents your own lease template for signing in the online booking flow and files the signed agreement against the lease.
Can I use my own lease template?
Yes. The agreement is rendered from your own template. Have it reviewed by your adviser; the template is yours, not legal advice.
