Separate provider choice from software support
UMP uses Stripe through the facility owner’s connected account. A general discussion of another processor does not mean it is supported by UMP. Confirm integrations before changing a live payment arrangement.
Compare the actual payment mix
Use Stripe UK pricing and written quotes from any alternative provider. Include card type, currency, recurring billing charges and applicable refund, dispute or failure costs. Do not assume every method has the same fee.
Check operations as well as price
Ask how authorisation is captured, when a collection is submitted, how processing and failure are shown, and who handles a disputed payment. A bank method can remain pending; a due date is not a guaranteed payout date.
Plan any move
Use supported imports and migration planning before switching. Saved cards and bank mandates do not move through the tenant CSV. Agree the collection cutover and whether new tenant authorisation is required.
